The IF-2024 in Washington, D.C. was a great success.

The Indonesia Conference 2024, organized by the Embassy of Indonesia in Washington, D.C., proved to be a tremendous success. This year’s central theme, “USA–Indonesia: Culture and Innovative Sustainable Development Pathways,” brought together scholars, professionals, and community members to explore the dynamic intersections between the two nations.
The event drew more than 200 participants and featured the presentation of over 40 academic papers spanning a wide array of topics, including culture, energy, technology, and sustainable development. Such diversity underscored the growing collaboration and shared interests between Indonesia and the United States.
The conference was officially opened by Mr. Ida Bagus Made Bimantara, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Indonesia. The program was further enriched by keynote addresses from distinguished scholars: Professor Robert Hefner of Boston University and Professor Erin Vogel of Rutgers University. Both speakers offered valuable insights and inspired lively discussions among attendees, setting a vibrant and engaging tone for the conference.
The momentum and enthusiasm generated at this year’s conference promise to carry forward into next year’s gathering. We look forward to Indonesia Focus 2025, which will take place in Nashville, Tennessee, and will be hosted by Vanderbilt University.
